Product Description

Snapper/ Pelagic Floatline and Retrieval/Trolling DRONE RIG 7/0 Livebait hooks Hooks Double Snelled on 90lb Fujiyama mono

A versatile rig designed for drone fishing off the bottom. See diagrams in photos for understanding. You can float this in reefy, weedy areas where otherwise you would be snagged. It is an adaptation of my float line snapper rigs. Ideally deployed by drone from the beach toward reefy areas, or from the rocks and cliffs, also for fishing in reefy areas. (This is not a deploy and leave on the bottom rig. It needs to be either floated with a float or slow retrieved/trolled, also requiring floats.) – Floats not included – The size float you need will depend on how you wish to fish this rig.

A high-quality double-snelled rig designed to be floated once deployed. (Float not included, but attach one to the drone attachment loop line ) Can be used with or without lead. If the current is running, add a small lead, as required, to the short length of line attached to the middle 3–way Crane swivel. By putting the lead on here, it keeps it away from the bait, allowing it to float around and present naturally (no current = no lead required; leave this piece of line be). Also, it makes for easy lead changing as the conditions change.

All the guesswork has been taken out of this rig for you. All line lengths and swivels have been trialled and tested to minimise the chance of tangling. The rig is designed to sit approx. 2 meters below the surface. If you need bait to float deeper, you will have to either increase the length of the drone attachment line loop or add a running float to your rod’s mainline, tied to a rubber stopper bead.  (See diagrams)

These double snelled 7/0 Live bait hooks are to be used with live mullet, whiting, tailor, herring and yakkas if available. You can also use quality dead bait, whole, strip baits, and whole squid.

This rig is not only limited to snapper, but will take other table fish like Kingfish, Dhufish, Mulloway, Tailor, Samson Fish, or whatever the target species are in your area.

Something else you can do with this rig is a slow retrieval method where you drop the bait well out and then retrieve at 1 -2 km hr. It can be surface-trolled over reefs or bottom-trolled over sand with live baits like mullet, whiting, yakkas, etc. Or even quality dead bait hooked up so it swims straight and doesn’t spin. You will need to put different floats and leads on for these methods. See  below, and also see rig diagrams.

1- If you want bait near the surface for the retrieval /troll method in the upper 2m, going over reef/sand/weed, put a LARGER float on the drone connection loop tag that will stay at the surface with a small ball sinker on the trace to keep the rig down a bit.

2-   If you want the rig to be dragged along the bottom (IN SANDY AREAS ONLY)

Put a small float on that will become submerged once deployed, yet keep the rig up off the bottom. A 4-oz snapper lead would be suitable to drag along the bottom. You may need to adjust the sinker trace length to keep the bait a bit off the bottom. Sinker trace can be 1mtr max. Also ideally retrieved at approx. 1-2 km /hr

So if you want to fish more actively and technically than the set-and-forget methods, this is an option. It will take some trial and error on your part, but all achievable with this rig. It will also now allow you to fish rocky and weedy areas, not just sandy beaches. You will catch very few Rays and Banjos fishing this way.

Just clip it onto your rod, clip it onto the drone, add a float, add a lead if required, and you’re rigged and ready for drone fishing in rocky, reefy, sandy areas.
