Product Description
DJI O4 Air Unit
The DJI O4 Air Unit brings DJI’s latest O4 video transmission technology to custom FPV drones. Designed for compact builds, it combines responsive digital video transmission with high-quality 4K recording in a lightweight package.
With support for up to 4K/60fps video recording, low-latency transmission and compatibility with a range of DJI goggles and controllers, the O4 Air Unit is an excellent choice for freestyle, racing and compact FPV builds.
DJI O4 Video Transmission
The DJI O4 Air Unit uses DJI’s advanced O4 digital video transmission system to provide a clear and responsive live view while flying. In addition, the system automatically selects a stable frequency to help maintain a reliable connection in changing environments.
Under FCC standards and in an open environment free from interference, the DJI O4 Air Unit supports a maximum transmission distance of up to 10 km.
Key transmission features include:
- DJI O4 digital video transmission
- Up to 10 km maximum transmission distance under FCC standards
- Low transmission latency
- High-frame-rate video transmission
- H.265 video encoding
- Automatic frequency selection
- Designed for responsive FPV flight
4K Video Recording
The DJI O4 Air Unit features a 1/2-inch image sensor capable of recording video at up to 4K/60fps. As a result, pilots can capture high-quality onboard footage without necessarily adding a separate action camera.
Furthermore, the system supports high-frame-rate transmission at up to 1080p/100fps, helping provide a smooth and detailed live view during fast manoeuvres.
Racing Mode
For pilots looking for faster response times, the DJI O4 Air Unit introduces Racing Mode. When paired with compatible goggles, Racing Mode reduces transmission latency to as little as 20 milliseconds.
Additionally, the system supports up to eight aircraft racing simultaneously. Therefore, it is suitable for both individual FPV flying and organised racing environments.
When Racing Mode is enabled, the system uses 1080p/100fps transmission and switches the transmission channel to manual mode.
Canvas Mode and Betaflight OSD Support
The DJI O4 Air Unit supports Canvas Mode and Betaflight OSD, allowing pilots to customise the information displayed through their goggles.
For example, flight information can be arranged to show the data most important to the pilot. Consequently, essential information remains easy to read without unnecessarily obstructing the camera view.
Lightweight Design for Compact FPV Builds
The DJI O4 Air Unit has been designed with compact FPV aircraft in mind. Its lightweight construction makes it suitable for drone frames of 2 inches and smaller, while still delivering DJI digital video transmission and 4K onboard recording.
Therefore, builders can create smaller and lighter FPV aircraft without giving up high-quality digital video.
